Bossa (Basic Open Source SAM-BA Application) is a tool used to flash firmware onto Atmel SAM microcontrollers, such as those found in SimHogger hardware. This guide will walk you through downloading, installing, and using Bossa on Windows to update your SimHogger firmware.
Step 1: Download Bossa for Windows
- Open your web browser and navigate to the Bossa download page.
- Locate and download the Windows installer version of Bossa.
- Once downloaded, run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Step 2: Prepare and Connect Your SimHogger Device
- Plug in your SimHogger (Due) device via the Programming/Serial Communication Micro-USB port to your computer.
- Before Bossa can communicate with the board, it must be erased:
- Press and hold the Erase button.
- While holding Erase, press and hold the Reset button.
- Release the Reset button first, then release the Erase button.

Step 3: Flash the Firmware Using Bossa
- Open Bossa (BOSSAC GUI).
- Click Browse and select the firmware .bin file you downloaded from the WirelessBilly website or our Discord.
- Select the correct COM port for your SimHogger device.
- Check the following options:
- Erase All
- Boot to Flash
- Click Write to begin flashing the firmware.

Step 4: Verify and Restart
The updated firmware should now be active and ready to use and you may close Bossa.
Once flashing is complete, restart the SimHogger device.
You should see the newer version appear on the startup screen on the SimHogger.
